First wreck....

Snap. I think that Babygirl is going to drive like her mama. Last night she was on her little bike and kept ramming the dogs water bowl. Lickety split, she fell off. Here are the before and after pictures.....she's completely over it....I'm not.
Oh, and she got new shoes....had to wear them all day. I think she's making a new fashion statement....

Does this hat make me look like a pimp?

So. We went to the store last night and Ava and Dave were trying on these hats. OMG!!! Dave's was pink and he had a feather boa that matched. I finally left them and went and hid. Anyway, Ava had to have the red one. Now she won't take it off. Seriously. The cute ones I've bought at The Gap and Gymboree.....no way....won't have anything to do with them. But, this one, oh yeah....she LOVES it!!
So, we're in line at Walmart. There's this 20-something blonde cashier. Let's call her Jill. She keeps looking at Ava, then me, then Dave and back again. Doesn't say a word for probably 2 minutes. Then, she looks me right in the eye and says "Is she yours?" I'm a little stunned and simply say "yes"....She then turns to Dave and says "Is she yours?" to which he replied "yes.....can you imagine our surprise when she came out that color!"....Jill looks totally taken aback and says "Well, did the doctors explain why she's that color....do they know what happened?" I'm turning around now because I'm about to pee my pants. Dave says "What do you mean....I don't get it." Jill says "Well, I tan, but still....my boyfriend would totally want me to have a paternity test." OMG....OMG.....I'm still laughing. And to think that we co-exist with people like that!!!!

Boys & Bands, Fairs and Hippie Beads....

What a weekend. The first that Ava has been really mobile. Let me say...OMG!!! She is into everything. Can't turn away for a minute.
She discovered her door beads a few minutes ago. I have visions of them coming down as I am the one that put them up and I know how they are hung. Oh my....did I just write hung? TeeHee....sorry.
Saturday morning we went to Harvest Days. What is Harvest Days, you ask. Well, it's a county fair, here in Battle Ground (population 1500 if you count the cows) where all the hickabillies and country folk converge. Our nephew, Josh, and his band played for an hour. It was great! Ava's first rock and roll concert and she got to be a groupie and go "backstage"....go Ava!!! Look out VanHalen!!
Then, we were on to the rides....didn't want any part of those, but we did spend $7 and she got to pick a plastic duck. Got a 2" stuffed dolphin as her prize. Wasn't all that impressed with that either....

Today, July 9th.....

Ava started to crawl!! Yahoo!! All that hard work and physical therapy has paid off and she's mobile! Her physical therapist said (a month ago) that she estimated Ava would be crawling in October....we're way ahead of that!! Go Ava! Oh, and the pics made me realize that I REALLY need to vaccuum!!

UH-OH.....

We did it. Got Ava's ears pierced. Everything was fine and then when we got her up from her nap, she had pulled one of them out!! Found the post and put it back in...owie....never did find the back. So much for the locking, baby-proof backs!!!
That was yesterday....today she doesn't even notice that they're there.

Seeing God for the first time....

well, that I know of anyway. We (Dave, Ava and I) spent a couple of hours laying in the back yard two nights ago. We looked at the sky (where God lives)....had some explaining to do....we had loud thuder and lightning the night before and I was explaining to Ava that there's nothing to be afraid of with the noise cuz it's just God and Grandpa up there, in heaven, bowling. Anyway, we looked at the birds and the trees, felt the grass under our feet and the wind on our faces and...it was magical. Utter stillness came over Ava the minute I laid her on the grass....it was as if she had never seen the sky. Or the trees. Or heard the birds. Can I somehow bottle that minute?
